Creativity at summer outdoor pursuits camps
We ran 5 wekk-long camps this summer, for a total of 58 young people aged 9-16. They spent their days canoeing, rock climbing, gorge walking etc and each afternoon/evening there was a chance to get involved in art & craft activities. This was very well received and provided a complete difference to the other activities each day, giving an opportunity to reflect and chat together. Probably the highlight was using collected beach materials and decorating them - and returning them, decorated, to their natural habitat, focusing on the place of human activitivy in creating beauty. It certainly appealed to a greater number than anticipated and the art facilitator got the young people really enthusiastic.
