Dysart Sail in Film Festival - Final Story

Dysart Sail in Film Festival - Final Story Main Image

The first ever Dysart Sail in Film Festival took place on the 11th of September 2010. It was hailed by locals and press alike as a huge success, with higher than expected attendance and the whole even going off without a hitch!

Our first activity was an interactive pirate show for the little ones at Pan Ha, followed by an indoor showcase of local film and writing, which was attended by Gordon Brown and his family. Workshop participants read their poems and stories from the booklet we produced and local filmmakers presented their films, including two groups of children from local primary schools who created short animations with help from Lawrie Brewster and Sarah Daly.

Finally, our outdoor screening in the beautiful Dysart harbour. We kicked the night off with a piece of Opera - perhaps the first time opera has been performed in Dysart! Then followed with a series of short greetings from people all over the world who expressed their support for the festival. We capped the night off with a screening of eclectic local and international films.

The response from the people of Dysart made all the hard work worth it, and we hope to repeat the event this year - making it even bigger and better and involving more communities in Fife.
