A group of 16 young traditional musicians, aged 12 to 18 were delighted when members of The Treacherous Orchestra agreed to take time out from their hectic performance schedule on Saturday 31st July to lead workshops in fiddle (Adam Sutherland), guitar (Barry Reid), percussion (Fraser Stone) and mixed instrumental work (John Somerville).

The workshops were arranged as a joint initiative between Fèisean a' Mhonaidh Ruaidh (Fèis Spè) and Fèis Mhoireibh and the organisers of the popular Speyfest in Fochabers.

The young musicians continued their rehearsal with piano player Mhairi Hall to produce a polished performance of two tunes for the big open stage programme on Sunday afternoon.

The workshops were made possible through funding from the People Making Waves programme and received much postive feedback from tutors, participants, parents and audiences alike. We hope to access further funding in future years to continue this opportunity for young musians to be part of Speyfest.
