Harvey's Garden

In Egilsay, Orkney, there is a garden looked after by a LLama. Its true, I have seen him with my own eyes, his name is Harvey. In spring and summer, and briefly in Autumn, Harvey is joined by the Edible Egilsay gardeners. They mulch the land with seaweed from the adjacent shores and in spring there are soils of magical fertility.

For a marvellous week in May I sowed seeds, delicately removed weeds, thinned seediings, sang to the soil and taught my hands new tricks.

I left with a happy heart and head full of inspiration and magical memories... my thanks go out to everyone that has put their time and energy into this wonderful intiative.
